Day 18 REST DAY St Ives ( 0 miles / 0 kms)
In the beautiful Primrose Bed & Breakfast. I woke late, rolled over and stayed horizontal before the smell of toast and bacon wafted up the stairs.
What a really beautiful place to have a rest day and it was as if even the weather was happy for me! The sun shone all over a St Ives Saturday . By the time I wandered out to explore after a long , unrushed breakfast , the town was bustling with the carnival atmosphere that comes over England when the sun comes out. The beach was full, people were spilling out of cafes, the pub’s outdoor seating was every man for himself to find a place to rest a pint…it was the perfect atmosphere for being in amongst it with a big smile on my face .
This day was about rest and refueling and laundry – I also had to make sure I got in every food synonymous with Cornwall before it was too late. I had things people had asked if I’d definitely tried and so I was on a mission . Plus I was peckish every two hours like a new born . First stop I joined the queue of holdiday makers to try famous Cornish icecream. That was delicious. Then after wandering through winding streets and into the galleries and book shops it was time for lunch which had to be a Cornish pasty from the packed St Ives Bakery . That was delicious. Then after wandering slowly to restock supplies from Boots and the Co-Op it was afternoon tea time . I was heading for a cream tea just as my friend Karalee messaged to say have a scone for me. So I did , at a lovely Garden Cafe overlooking the harbour . I sat there with my book , a tea and scone with jam and Cornish clotted cream. That was delicious.
How perfect this resting was. I walked about so slowly that people with canes and walking frames were asking me to move aside so they could pass. I leisurely walked back. That morning I had asked at the B and B if I could use their washing machine if possible. The gorgeous lady said give it to me and I’ll have it dried and back in your room this afternoon. I was so thrilled – the people along the way of this walk have been such a huge part of what makes it what it is. I have been continually met with the most genuine kindnesses.
Being a Saturday ,and a beautiful one at that, people were everywhere so that meant all the restaurants were fully booked . I really wanted to go for dinner at Pedn Olva , close to my bed for the night and right overlooking the water – casual but stunning. In a total moment of timing I managed to get a table for dinner . The lovely waitress squeezed me in on a booked out night as I was a table for one. It was right at the front with views through massive windows over the blue water with the sun setting. I was sat in the romantic couples bit – it was the view for a loved up date night. I was getting a few glances – I had a feeling they must of been thinking .. Oh dear , I think it is a Tinder thing and he’s just not shown up. The meal , sat there with a glass of wine and my book and that view. What a memorable end to my resting.
Thank you , thank you for all the beautiful comments that you have sent on this blog and to me over the past 18 days. They are so encouraging and supportive. How special it is to open my eyes and start the day with these . Thankyou for taking the time to follow along and show me such care. xxx

Sounds, and looks like an ideal little break, plus the luxury of getting some washing done. Each of those treats sound yummy, icecream, scones and tea and a Cornish Pastie, perfect! Good luck for your next day of walking. Stay safe.❤️❤️🥾🥾
