Day 29 Par to Polperro. (13 miles / 21km ) HOT. That is how this day started and this is how it ended. I will remember this day for many things but mainly as the heatwave day – for the full force of it hitting the South West Coast Path and a sweaty blonde woman up on the cliffs! It was ideal having my own little kitchen as I was able to get up early, make my eggs on toast , have bags packed up , suncream double layered and out the door . Susie’s Air…

Day 28 Mevagissey to Par (11.25 miles / 18km) Instead of by alarm I woke to the actual sound of fishermen’s banter , thats how close to the harbour my bed was! I didn’t have breakfast included at this stop so in a sleepy , not quite open Mevagissey I did a progressive breakfast around the narrow streets. Yoghurt from supermarket, banana and berries from the fruit seller and a bacon bap and pot of tea from a tea shop. The heat wave that was coming in a gradual warming of each day was the talk of the town and…

Day 27 Portloe to Mevagissey (12.5 miles / 20km) Thanks to Ralph I was able to leave the lovely Luggers Hotel after a even lovlier Luggers breakfast with feet fully taped and with my effort to safeguard my toe. I couln’t see a blister on my toe that equalled the discomfort when I put my foot in my boot. I was a bit perplexed. I thanked and said goodbye to the hypnotic voiced lady on reception who farewelled me with the same gentle care as she greeted me. Off I went – slowly and tentatively. Damn this toe for putting…

Day 26 Falmouth to Portloe (13.75 miles / 22km ) This day, like yesterday, was glorious sunshine from start to finish. It was also the summer solstice and the two things combined made for a very special walking day. I, like the sun, was in no rush for this day to end . It was stunning. For the first time on this walk the day unfortunately featured my feet more than I would of liked. It was too beautiful a day for my feet to feature. But you can’t plan these things. After wet sock day and because…

Day 25 Porthfallow to Falmouth (18 miles / 29km) If there was a stage of this walk that was to perfectly reflect an English summers day – this stage would be it. It was glorious England – blue sky and a hot sun and record sales for Cornish icecream sellers. It fell on a Saturday so it felt like all of Cornwall dropped whatever they were doing to make the most of it. The atmosphere through the villages along the way and into Falmouth was as beautiful to walk through as the scenery. After a narrow pathed climb…

Day 24. Lizard to Porthfallow (15 miles / 25km) I open my bedroom door this morning to head down to breakfast and there sat outside my bedroom door, washed, dry and folded in a basket is all my washing. I felt the Christmas morning feeling!! Like something lovely happened while you were asleep and you don’t know how. What a start to this day. – and then I head down to breakfast featuring what I think are the most wanted items in a walkers breakfast. Fresh fruit, yoghurt and choice of hot things cooked to order – 2…

Day 23 Porthleven to Lizard. ( 13.5 miles / 22km) I woke with heavy legs. Maybe it was because my legs were in tune with my mind that was thinking maybe a rest day in the lovely warmth of Porthleven would of been an excellent idea. The last time I felt like this about a stop was Boscastle – I felt the same urge to google cottages for sale. I had to go. This day was a marker of a day as I was to hit Britain’s most Southerly point at Lizard Point and also I got the privilege to walk…

Day 22 Mousehole to Porthleven. ( 17 miles / 28km ) This day was doing a double. I had joined two stages together – and this time I remembered why. The first part of today was a flat start , staying on the concrete sea wall and then a cycle path . This makes for easy walking and a lovely respite for my little legs after the last few days. It was perfectly timed. The final 7km were a return to cliff tops and a roller coaster of elevations. The walk led me out of Mousehole , such…

Day 21 Porthcurno to Mousehole (9.5 miles / 12.6 km) I got an early start at the Seaview B and B . This was to be a day with a technical section that was a slow and deliberate foot placement concentration component midway . It’s another section that comes with exclamation marks in the description. I took two nurofen. I also wanted to get to Mousehole in plenty of time for both the described cuteness of the village and the “unrivalled” cream tea at The Four Teas cafe. (Mousehole is pronounced ‘Mowzell’… so glad Henry Stedman clarified this as I…

Day 20 Pandeen to Porthcorno ( 16 miles / 26km) Make a cuppa because this is a long one – it was a day of many sights and situations. I woke up knowing Vivienne’s breakfast was going to be as beautiful as her dinner and it was. When she handed me a packed lunch to take with me I already knew without looking that her sandwich would be up there in sandwich rankings. And it was. What a memorable stop. I love these stays and how they bookend the days of this walk. Today was going to see…
